Lighting Unity Candle 2

Today we have three candles. One representing _bridename_ , one representing _groomname_ and one larger candle representing the family unit that they are creating by their marriage. You can now each (Mothers/Children/Friends) light one of the smaller candles and then pass them to _groomname_ and _bridename_ who will together light the larger candle.

_groomname_ and _bridename_ The lighting of the unity candle is reminiscent of a long-ago custom whereby the fire from the hearths of the homes of both families was used to start a fire in the newlyweds’ home. It represents for us today the two now becoming one.

In the lighting of these candles together you are symbolising the creating of a stronger brighter light that will shine forth for all the world to see.

Your marriage today and your growth together as a family will forever shine as your love for each other grows.

May the blessing of light, be with you always, light without and light within. And may the sun shine upon you and warm your heart until it glows like a great fire so that others may feel the warmth of your love for one another.
