Option 8 – Sand Ceremony

The most beautiful example of this partnership is the marriage relationship. You have committed yourselves here today to share the rest of your lives with each other.
Today, this relationship is symbolized through the pouring of these two individual containers of sand – one representing you, _groomname_ , and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be.

The other represents you, _bridename_ , and all that you were and all that you are, and all that you will ever be.

As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be.

_groomname_ pour the first grains of your sand and say,

As I pour this sand I am reminded that marriage is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.

_bridename_ pour the first grains of your sand and say,

It is not expecting my husband to wear a halo,

_groomname_ say,

or my wife to have wings of an angel.

_bridename_ say,

It is not looking for perfection in each other.

_groomname_ say,

It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding and a sense of humour.

_bridename_ say,

It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.

_groomname_ say,

it is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.

Together say,

Marriage a common search for the good and the beautiful in an atmosphere of love acceptance and forgiveness. Love never fails.
